Solved File sharing on my home network

I have 7 PCs, all running Windows 11. This didn't used to be a problem, they had Windows 7, then 8, then 10, then 11. They all have the same login, that's the same username and the same password. That login is an admin on every computer. One of these computers is the main computer. I access the other 6 using file sharing and "remote utilities" (freeware). Usually, I share something on another machine, and I can get to it with full write access from the main machine, since there is only one combination of username and password. One machine went haywire and I reformatted it and installed Windows 11 from scratch. I set up the share I thought the same but I cannot write files to it. Why?

ARGH! Fixed it. Just gave "everyone" full permissions. Why is Windows becoming more and more like Linux, the default on absolutely everything is "no you're not getting in". I even get asked to give permission for something I just asked it to do! That doesn't even make sense!

An idea for the future, I set up a NAS drive connected to my Wireless Router via Ethernet cable and can Map the Public folder on it from any computer desired whether Wired or Wireless connected to the Router, no one computer has to be running.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

Not what I need. I have 7 computers all running science projects. I need to edit files on each one to change settings.

It's my own computer! Pray tell me what is the point in asking "do you provide permission to yourself to do this"?

Say you picked up some ransomware. Wouldn't you prefer the system to ask you if you really want to run it with admin privileges, rather than just letting it run without question?

*I* clicked the button to initiate the copy of the file. The OS knows that *I*, not some ransomware asked it do this. What on earth is the point of asking the same person that just asked for the command if they're really sure they want to allow themselves to do it?

Oh and I have AV software. I've never had any ransomware or anything else bad in the 32 years I've used Windows.

No, just the pertinent information. The down side to computing is that seldom do any 2 or more computers stay exactly alike after being sold and no 2 or more users work them the exact same way, seemingly minor information can become quite important.
