I updated my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960. The update said it was successful but I have no DP 1.4. I've tried many of the basic solutions I found on the web and some not so basic. I don't know if the update work or not. I hope someone can help. Thanks

Not an issue I've ever faced.

I see that your Q27G3XMN is spec'd to do 2560 X 1440 @ 180 Hz (in 10bit color). Apparently, DP 1.2 isn't adequate to support that. Does it run at all with the 960?

I wonder whether the nVidia firmware update changes the capabilities of the GTX 960's DP, or simply updates handshaking?

In the let-them-eat-cake line, a GTX 1060 would have DP 1.4a, and better performance than the 960.
