I have a Samsung Galaxy S22. I can get notified of being contacted by Google Meet, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp but not for new Gmail email.
I have attempted to contact Samsung & asked Google Help without any luck.
I have included an image from my brothers pc to demonstrate.

Have you checked Gmail App/Menu/Settings/General settings/Manage notifications?

Hi Edwin, I have tried everything and was in the process of searching Google Gmail Help when your reply was received and low and behold I got a Red 1 on my Gmail app.
I get very few emails and had been using other email accounts on my laptop, could this be the cause?

Check your your send/receive settings, perhaps Gmail isn’t checking for mail?

This badge can be turned off, so make sure that you have it on. From the Gmail app Inbox, tap on the Menu icon (three horizontal bars) at the top left, then scroll down to Settings > General settings > Manage notifications > Show badge on Home Screen icons.

I got my hat trick.
I had very recently transferred my bits and pieces from my old oppo phone (Version 10) to my Galaxy Version 14.
I uninstalled most of things in the oppo but not my gmail account as I wanted to know Galaxy was working OK which it is

Yes.
If you have the same app on more than one device, and you open that app, the “Badges” (numbers on icons) will vanish on the device you’re looking at because you’ve read/opened it on your device.

In regards to mail, if you check your mail on a device then the mail is marked as read. Therefore it will be marked as read on all devices hence there being no “Badge”on your Samsung, because you checked for mail on your Oppo
