go.microsoft.com event 1014 dns client

I keep getting "Name resolution for the name go.microsoft.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. Client PID xxxx" upon boot.
I tried putting 0.0.0.0 go.microsoft.com in the hosts, then 127.0.0.1, nothing worked. and the IP changes all the time so I could not place it in incoming firewall.
help appreciated.

I'm getting no issue with go.microsoft.com on both Edge and Firefox.

Pretty sure that’s blocking a site not enabling it

Using hosts file like you do, you are blocking access to go.microsoft.com site.
