Windows 11 Home 64-bit
I have this problem with windows 11 64bit with starting onedrive and google drive. I have them enabled through settings/applications/startup, also in task manager. And the registry entries look correct. Every time I reboot they automatically are unsellected in applications and task manager. My work around is to create shortcuts to put into users/username/applicationdata/roaming/microsoft/windows/startup. It works this way but id prefer to know why not when using the conventional way. Any ideas?

It certainly sounds as though you have covered all the bases
I have both Onedrive and Googledrive. As you stated, I control the startup of both through either task manager or settings>apps>startup.
I do not have the path you mentioned. C:\users\username\applicationdata\roaming\microsoft\windows\startup. Did you manually create this folder?
My currentuser startup menu is located at C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
My alluser startup path is “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp” but neither Onedrive nor Google Drive appear in either of these folders.
My registry appears as per attached screenshot.

There is also a setting in Googledrive to start at startup as per second screenshot.

I suggest you deal with one app at a time starting with Onedrive since it's a MS app. Things to try:

Check your system for file corruption using sfc /scannow If it found corruption it could not fix followup with this command (note the spaces)
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Restart computer

Check for malware using Malwarebytes.

Reset Onedrive Reset OneDrive in Windows 10 and Windows 11 Tutorial

Undo the workaround you made and again set just Onedrive to start automatically using task manager. Perform a clean boot leaving only MS services enabled. If onedrive starts normally some third party app is interfering with your cloud services. Clean boot can be used to find the conflicting software. many thanks let me try that out. Your startup folder is the same as mine, I missed a few out. Since I upgraded Google Drive to ver 73, I see the start up toggle is back in google preferences. My reg for one drive is the same as yours. One thing I note is that One drive latest release shown on microsoft one drive download site is 23.061.0319.0013 dated 30 march 23. But mine appears for some reason to be 23.076.0409.0001?? which doesnt have a toggle on off start up button.
