Has No pdf preview in Win 11 explorer been solved. I can find no answers.

Bitmaps and some other files display, but PDFs don't. I have followed most answers I've found to no avail. I am not using and Adobe products and anything that relates to that is not applicable.

It needs to be enabled in Adobe software.

If your default application to open PDF files is web browser then it won't preview since web browsers don't have this function.

Windows doesn't have native PDF support so you'll need some software installed that does such as the free Adobe Acrobat software.

I hate when companies try to fool people into downloading their software by saying it's free when only the option to download is free.

Yup. When I installed it, I would have to pay $1.75 for a 14 day trial period.

There was a free version, but since that's what I was looking for, and it installed the trial instead, I decided to just back off.

You might try installing it and seeing what happens.

I don’t understand this, is it a thing? I just reinstalled windows and PDF’s opened just fine, pre loading my PDF program. Must be one of those Microsoft bugs that hit some people and not others? I am assuming it was Edge that opened it. I can’t recall because I wasn’t paying attention. I needed to read a receipt (pdf) that was required pre my loading Acrobat Reader. Acrobat which is free and doesn’t nag.

Because of your post, curiosity got the best of me. I wanted to see If I had a PDF viewer besides Edge and Firefox. To my surprise I found that when I installed the software for my Brother laser printer that PDF Viewer Se was installed when I allowed Paperport to be installed.

Actually, I believe that was the same for the (Very Old) drivers for my Brother Laser.
I think there are a few different things that will activate payless PDF viewers by default. I have never cared enough to make note of what, where why or how. I should be more attentive with my usage of Windows 11/or Windows in general.
