Has Windows 11 Pro 22H2 developed some bugs? Or is it just me?

I've noticed some strange behaviour in Windows since the last couple of Patch Tuesdays...

Before I start, I must say that I do not tweak, alter, molest, or otherwise mess with my Windows installation. It has worked perfectly in it's out of the box configuration since I installed it last year, and I like it that way.

What I have noticed in the past couple of months is some odd behavior. Windows closing unexpectedly, command windows opening and closing too fast to see what they are, and windows suddenly losing focus while I am working in them, the cursor going away somewhere and coming back, and my mouse doesn't always start on boot.

These are just little annoying issues, but seem to have started after some recent (2 months and forward) updates. I thought I had a virus, so I scanned with MSERT, SuperAntiSpyware, Malware Bytes and Windows Defender. All scans turned up nothing.

Since my virus checks have turned up nothing and I haven't installed anything recently, AND my installation is factory (the MS sales department would be so proud of me), I guess my question is:

Is anyone else noticing little weirdnesses like this?

I have no problems here, have you tried in-place upgrade to repair your Windows 11?

This is not normal behavior for Windows 11. I have been running it since it's inception. I also am on the Insiders Preview so I test all of the update before they are released to the public and I have had no issues

A command windows opening and shutting means there is some app or browser extension that is running on Windows Startup. Download AutoRuns. This will tell you what apps are starting with Windows that you are not aware of.
Your other symptoms sound like you have a bad mouse, or a stuck key on the keyboard. If wireless devices, change the batteries. Test with a new Wired Mouse and or Keyboard

I've been using Windows 11 Pro on the two computers you see in "My Computers" for the last two years. I also do not use any of the hacks or apps to modify Windows 11.

I check Windows Update at the start of every day. I like to be sure that my two computers are always up to date.

For me Windows 11 Pro has always been rock solid reliable.

Well, I used Autoruns and got rid of some older stuff that was no longer relevant. That hasn't changed the weirdness very much. I think I've figured out the mouse thing. It seems to be a problem with the Logitech control software/drivers that load when Windows starts. Occasionally, I have to reboot to get the mouse working and the keyboard lights right, so that must be a separate issue.

I'm going to give it another week to continue testing and then possibly do a repair install. OneDrive will probably come back, but that's a headache for another thread.

If you feel the issue is Logitech software, start uninstalling that first before doing a Repair Install.

You might be interested in my post today in relation to other issues that I was experiencing. I am suspicious that the Logi software is a bit intrusive and does not work that well on some computers.

IMO, that's normal. I build and rebuild a lot of test machines (clean install from latest ISO) and I see that every once in a while. I assume it's Windows running some housekeeping PowerShell scripts and don't worry about it.

Unfortunately there aren't actually any instructions to read in current Windows releases are there? I vaguely remember a slim booklet which used to come with Windows when it came on a CD, but these days you only get a splash screen, which won't answer the kind of questions which people posting here have. Edge certainly has a 'help' offering, as do quite a few applications, but there isn't really anything for Windows itself. As @TraderGary says, there are third party books available, but if you really want to know the details of Windows, you either have to fork out for a very expensive text book, or go on a course.
The best alternative for most of us is this very web site.

Indeed, but these are third party instruction books, rather than a manual which comes with the product. Generally speaking, one still gets some kind of manual -either hard copy or a .pdf - when buying hardware, but software tends to rely on help pages, and often on youtube clips (often very helpful). I think someone at Microsoft decided that a manual for the ordinary user was unnecessary, and they could save money by not providing one. This was even more necessary when many of us have not actually paid for our current version of Windows, but merely upgraded from a previous version.
