Hello,

On my Windows 11 machine I have a script/bat file where I DON'T want the output to wrap to the next line in a command prompt window. I want a horizontal scroll bar instead.

With Windows 10, it was easy to get a horizontal scroll bar to appear for a command prompt window. It was accomplished like this:

Turn On or Off Wrap Text Output on Resize of Console Window in Windows

However, for Windows 11, these options either don't exist or I can't find them in the settings/properties for command prompt windows.

Can anyone help me here? Thank you.

If you're using Terminal, there is no horizontal scrollbar (as of now). There are sooooo many registered complaints in GitHub, so it's not like MS doesn't hear them.

For now, your only option is switch back to using conhost.

Hi Garlin,

Thank you for this. I changed my default terminal to conhost and I got my horizontal scroll bar back. It was still wrapping lines so I unchecked "Wrap text output on resize" but it is still wrapping lines despite the scrollbar and despite fiddling with various combinations of screen buffer size and window size widths.

I guess I'll just revert everything back to the original settings.

Are you remembering to set the buffer's width to much wider than the actual window size?

Yes. I set it to 300 and unchecked the "Wrap text output on resize" option. It is still wrapping, regardless of whether or not there is a horizontal scroll bar appearing (controlled by me resizing the window by dragging the left side). The second picture shows the horizontal scroll bar, the third picture does not. (BTW, the scroll bar showing above these windows is from another window above; it is not part of this window.)
