Solved How can I make all monitors use the same gpu?

I've got a new gaming laptop. It has an AMD integrated cpu/gpu (AMD Ryzen R9-7940HS) as well as a discreet gpu (NVIDIA RTX 4070). I've never had a split gpu situation before because I usually use a PC and turn off the integrated gpu anyway.

I have it attached to 2 external displays.

Here is my monitor layout:

LuS612b.png

Display 1, which is my laptop screen, uses the discreet gpu.

Display 3, which is my main monitor, uses the integrated gpu. It is connected using usb-c.

Display 2, which is my secondary display, uses the discreet gpu. It is connected using HDMI.

Display 2 is: Dell UltraSharp 25 Monitor: U2515H | Dell UAE

Display 3 is: EX2780Q 27" 1440p 144Hz Gaming Monitor

Only Display 1 and 2 show up in nVidia control panel. Display 3 shows up in the AMD Adrenalin software.

Ideally I want Display 1 and 2 to use the integrated gpu and Display 3 to use the discreet gpu.

Well, firstly you need to route the cables between each monitor and the chosen gpu. There has to be a physical connection, otherwise what you are requesting is not possible To do that you will need to swap cables around and hope that there are enough compatible ports connected to the motherboard/integrated GPU for it to work. We do not know which laptop you are using, so it is difficult to confirm whether this would be possible or not.
Then, hypothetically speaking, you will need to configure the Adrenalin > Settings > Display > Eye Infinity > Setup to run multiple monitors from that gpu device.

It only has one usb-c and one hdmi port and one of my monitors only supports HMDI so I'm pretty fixed in terms of moving cables around.
Are you sure? The page in your link says the laptop has a dual usb-c with display port support.

You may want a display port-to-hdmi adapter. You should be able to pick those up online.

Oh yeah I didn't realise the second usb-c slot would also work for a display. Thanks! I'll pick one up and see how it goes

Bit of a dumb moment actually. There are 2 usb-c slots. I was using one for display and one for a hub. I swapped them over and now all my displays run off the dGPU.

I have a Dell XPS 17 laptop that also only has USB-C outputs In my case four ports , better than two but still limited for todays needs ...

Although my laptop is used for Graphics editing rather than gaming the issues are similar

I can get two external Monitors and the Built in monitor to work by use of the USB-c and suitable conversion connecting cables so it is possible . However this gives a somewhat unstable result with loss of one or other of the externals at random times - this may be because I am running a total of three 4K HDR monitors (including the laptop built in ), though it is a lot more stable with the laptop closed to reduce to two screens.

I am personally looking to purchase a powered HUB unit to run the external monitors which may be the best way to retain stability. Amazon sell a number of different options from around £50 - upwards with the majority in the £80 to £120 range.

The advantage of this is that the hubs will also include a selection of other outputs in the form of USB -C, USB3.2 Etc and Audio so making the use of the laptop a much better experience
