the very tip of the cursor goes to the furthest point accessible on the screen, and since the cursor is angled down/right, 99% of it is not visible

Change your mouse pointer shape/design/style.

You can get extra ones from MS Store, e.g. maybe Powertoys and others.

The standard angled arrow head style does disappear bottom and right of screen so the tip covers the whole screen.

What you have to understand is that it is the very tip of the pointer that is important, that is where you will click, and it is just the pixel at the tip that cannot be moved off the screen. When you move right, or down, the rest of the pointer may be off the screen, but try moving it down below the Start icon then click. You'll find that the active tip of the pointer has stopped at the bottom of the screen and can still click on Start, or any other icon on the taskbar.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

It does, but not entirely. Egdes of the default "arrow" cursor can still be seen on the screen. The bottom edge leaves very little of the cursor visible, but it still sticks up a bit.

But back to your original question: you were talking about restraining the cursor within a window. What window were you talking about?

yes because the pixel of the mouse pointer is at the tip of the pointer arrow.
The "arrow" is there only to help you see where that 1 pixel is.
The mouse is a full system thing limited by the particular desktop you are viewing.
A window is just a tiny part or the system.
