Win11
My VPN has been set to Public for many months. Suddenly, this morning, when Windows 11 powered up, it decided to change it to Private. I can't seem to find any way to set it back to Public. Does anyone know a way?

Open up your settings by pressing Win + I, then head over to Network & Internet and click on VPN. Find the VPN you’re using in the list, click on it, and look for an option to edit the Network Profile. From there, you should be able to switch it back to Public easily

Thank you for the reply. There are no VPN settings, and this is kinda the problem.

I remember having this problem once before with a different VPN. I don't think I found a way to change it that time either. There must be a setting in the Registry that I can edit.

Yes, finally, the registry option worked.

I have no idea why the other options don't. But then there are things missing in 11, because the old Control Panel is the only thing that even displays the problem.

I remember having this issue before. It is when Windows 11 glitches and creates a new connection for the VPN app and for some odd reasons decides it's Private rather than Public. Not sure why it happens. It has happened twice to me in about four years with two completely different VPN applications. This is the first time I managed to fix it (last time I bypassed the problem by installing a different app).

Thank you everyone. Could not have done it without you.
