Hello,

The topic says a lot already :-)
How can I get rid of e.g. "Foxit reader 9.3" in the picture I added?

Regards,

Kees

Two ways I use, one is to uninstall the undesired program and the other to assign a program to a file type in File Associations then always just double-click that file type. Most times assigning a program will show that program's icon with that type file.

Hi @Brink :geek:

I already saw this tutorial, and tried it several times, but no effect.
The "Open With" context-menu stays the same.
Screenshots are the keys for PDF keys you mentioned in the tutorial.

Cheers

Just to confirm, did you delete the FoxitReader.Document value in the OpenWithProgids key in your 3rd screenshot above?

I have deleted it, still persists.
When I delete that key, the record was gone, but it came right back when I right clicked a pdf file, without opening it.
There that key was again (and the context menu as well)

In that case, check the settings in the Foxit PDF Reader app to see if there may be one to remove it from the "Open with" context menu.

Well, It was complicated I guess.
What I did was the removal of the portable Foxit reader (just deleted it).
That did the trick; strange but true....

Yes, I agree.
I installed another portable version, and now all is well. And reacts as expected with choosing the default apps, etc.
The portbale apps were all from portbaleapps.com

The only way I found is by using the free utility "EcMenu_v1.6".
I got rid of an annoying "Open with File Viewer Plus" from my context menu.
All registry hacks I could find didn't work for me.
Download link : Easy Context Menu v1.6

Hope this help
