how to run an old program

win10 64 bit 20h2 ver. now it is 22h2
i have an old program called draft choice or dcwin. it is a drafting program that i used years ago. but it will not run on anything newer than win7 maybe win 9 . anyway is ther a way to get that program to run on win11? it is a free program and if you were to look it up. anyway is there any way to run this program? thanks


or does anyone know of a free drafting program that runs on win11? i looked up free drafting program and what i found after you click on there links require some payments to run them.

also one that leans to floor plans for homes.

This software died in 2005. I think you would be hard stretched to get it running on Windows 11. From what I read, it was even a task to get it running on Windows 7.

FreeCad is opensource. That’s probably what you need to search for, Bob, Free “Opensource” drafting software.

have you tried installing the program in compatibility mode for XP or Win 7.

i did load free cad but it is a bit to learn. i will look for another program in those search terms.

for what it is worth it ran good on win7 i used it all the time. anyway i will keep looking and see if i can find something for drawing a home in 2d jsut for looking down at the walls. thanks

Is it the program won't run or that it won't install? I've had some success in bypassing the automatic install from CDs and going with the setup.exe file in the CD.

I have a copy of DeltaCAD 3 and DeltaCAD 4 that can run as portable apps, also a copy of ClarisWorks from late '90s.

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
If you really like the drafting app you have been using you can try Hyper-V & a older OS,
though you have to jump through several hoops to get all activated & running.
I installed a 16bit app in Win11 (just tested on b27766 & working) by using Hyper-V w/ Windows 10 x86 as the guest OS.
