Follow these instructions from Windows: Redirecting

You can always hover over the date and time on the taskbar and it will show what day it is.

I found a solution that partially works, it an application from the windows store called ElevenClock but if you click anywhere on the taskbar the old format will show and to fix this is just to click focus on something else.

Thank you for the quick feedback to all.

As per the comments by Fabler & Edwin, it’s available to do natively. No need for extra apps, but that’s your choice.

So why go with an "application" when we all showed you how to do what you wanted without one?

@Fabler2 Thank you for your guide in sorting out a display date for the System Tray.

I did this using the string ddd dd MMM yyyy and that gave me a date display that I was happy with.

Some time later I glanced at the System Tray and saw that, for whatever reason, the Notification Bell Icon had disappeared from my System Tray. After a reboot that was still the case. Then I looked in Settings > System > Notifications and saw that the setting Show notification bell icon was disabled, and that certainly wasn't done by me. I enabled the setting, the bell appeared, and all was fine again.

I'm just posting this note here in case anyone else runs into the same issue.

It was kind of weird. When the bell wasn't there I tried clicking on the date information in the System Tray and as part of doing that the Notification GUI showed up. Seemed like for that period of time when the bell wasn't there access to Notifications was still possible by clicking on the date info.

Now that I've looked at it a bit more closely if, now with bell showing, I hover the mouse pointer over the date information that whole area gets highlighted a little by windows and, yes, the bell is included in the highlight. From this I take it that the date and bell are in some ways intimately inter-related in Windows.

I wasn’t aware you could remove the Notification bell.
I still am using 23H2, just like you (according to your system specs), and in my system settings the extra option to hide the notification bell is not present. Must be something new in 24H2.

But I did remove it by means of Windhawk, so for me no problem.
I'd like to postpone the update to 24H2 somewhat longer...
