Solved How to use a Hasleo System Backup file to restore PC

I have been making a back up my PC every month for a year using Hasleo Backup Suite. I'm currently forced to use the latest backup to return my PC to a previous date. Is there somewhere I can find a step by step instruction on how to do it? Thank you.

Basically, you go to the home section, select the image you want to restore, click on actions and select restore.
Follow the prompts.
The PC will restart into the recovery process.
Hasleo might want to create the restore environment before it restarts.

If the backup image does not show in the home section, but you know it is on your PC, go to the restore section and guide Hasleo to the backup image you want to restore.

I have never been confronted with anything like these when restoring an image.

In this process, the partitions needed to restore the image have already been selected. So all you need to do is basically say yes and or continue/next on every screen presented, without modification of anything, until the PC reboots and restores.

Regardless FYI

Master Boot Record (MBR) disks use the standard BIOS partition table. GUID partition table (GPT) disks use the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI). One advantage of GPT disks is that you can have more than four partitions on each disk. GPT is also required for disks larger than 2 terabytes (TB)

Hasleo already knows all this as it created the initial backup.

If you need to restore the image at boot because you cannot enter Windows, you should have already created the restore USB (First part of post 1 in the tutorial I linked to above)

It is important to have at least one of the above processes in place.

Otherwise, if able, just start the restore process using Hasleo from within Windows as instructed in post No. 3 above.

So, I attempted to do a restore of my backup of December 6, 2024. I have a later one, but I'm not sure when the issue I have started. Here are 7 screenshots in order as they appeared when I made the attempt. Not as simple the example in Post #3. I have highlighted my reason for this post. I have no idea what my answers should be. Thank you.

Hi, as I mentioned above. Just click YES or NEXT on every screen. NO, you don’t need to click the download button for the WinPE.
Just click next on Everything

All those images you posted are correct. Like I said above

FYI, this screen is asking you if you want to build the WinPE image.

This is a necessary step. You cannot restore the C: partition while you are running Windows from it. The WinPE environment is a basic operating system which will be customised to contain Hasleo, and which you will be booting from to perform the restore. Building the WinPE image is the same process as used to build a bootable Hasleo recovery USB.

For almost everyone, no extra drivers should be needed. This option is there for those few machines that may need to add an extra driver to access the hard drive during the restore, or maybe to use a bluetooth-connected keyboard, if that's all your PC has. So far I've never found this to be necessary on any of my machines.

You shouldn't need to download WinPE, Hasleo will look for and should find it already on your PC, it's part of Windows.

The Download WinPE components option allows you to download WinPE components instead of looking for WinPE components from the current computer.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

    unsupported machine: Legacy bios, MBR, TPM 1.2, upgraded from W10 to W11 using W10/W11 hybrid install media workaround. In-place upgrade to 22H2 using ISO and a workaround. Feature Update to 23H2 by manually installing the Enablement Package. In-place upgrade to 24H2 using hybrid 23H2/24H2 install media. Also running Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus the Insider Beta, Dev, Canary, and Release Preview builds as a native boot .vhdx.

What's new in this version:
1. Fixed bug: Backup to FAT32 volumes or network share volumes may fail
2. Fixed bug: Cannot save access credentials for network shares
3. Fixed bug: Incremental backup of file backup feature becomes slow
