Hi all.

I recently got this popup...

Notification.PNG

Previous to this, if I wanted to cast a movie to my tv I would right-click the file, show more options, cast to device, select my tv, and a little cast to window would open up on my desktop allowing me to pause or rewind etc, and the movie would start playing on the tv.

Now, after this popup, If I select cast to device and select my tv my laptop opens up the movie in my media player and then casts the entire desktop to the tv not just the media file.

Why is my laptop casting the entire desktop when l specifically ask it to cast just the movie??

Is there any way of uninstalling this new feature l have from this popup so l can get it back to specifically casting just the media I want, like before, and not the entire blumming desktop??

Thanks.

Hi steviebax,

Try viewing the movie in Full screen mode.

Kind regards,

That would only result in my laptop casting my desktop with VLC playing in fullscreen.

The whole thing changed. Before it wouldn't have even opened VLC, before you just sent the media file to the TV and then it would play on the tv.

All I want to do is revert this laptop to its former state, where I would simply right-click the file, go to 'show more options,' then go to 'cast to device,' select my TV from the list, and bingo.

So I wonder if there is any way to prevent the desktop from being cast.

What happens if you use the cast button shortcut under the action center/quick settings ?

Everything l do just cast's the entire desktop. Which is fine if thats what you want but l dont understand why the option to cast a specific file has changed. Its as if the ability to cast a individual file has been removed and now only casting the entire desktop is allowed.
