I can't get Outlook Calendar to work on my phone

I have previously avoided having emails and calendars on my phone, mainly because I just don't understand the setup.
While I still don't really want emails on my phone it seemed that if I wanted to synch the Outlook (365)Calendar on my my PC with my phone I had to setup an account which supposedly gave me access to emails and Calendar. It gives me access to my emails but not calendar. When I try to access my Calendar I get a message saying ".. this account doesn't support calendar"
A bit of Googling suggested I click on the three dots to access menu to enable it. Problem is no 3 dots!
Other Googling suggests changing SMTP account to Exchange. I'm loath to do that without help. As I said above, I just don't understand the setup and don't want to mess up the email an calendar on my PC.
I suspect part of my problem may be the rather old phone (in phone terms) - Samsung SM-G950.

Your problem isn't your phone nor its age, but in how everything has been setup. If you use and setup the Outlook app correctly, everything should work just fine. I have had it recently running on even older devices.

I also use a 3rd party calendar app (paid) that I have connected to my Google, Outlook and O365 for business calendars and they all work great.

EDIT: Currently I use the Samsung Calendar on my Note 20 Ultra. It should work fine on your S8 too.

Stop undermining my arguments for buying a new phone!

My difficulty, if that is the right word, is that I want to synch the Calendar app on my desktop PC with my Smartphone. Unless someone can suggest otherwise that means using the Outlook one since I use that for my mail (on the desktop).
Part of my problem is that I retired long before Smartphones started being used by everyone for everything so didn't experience that learning curve, My works phone was the Nokia one that seems have some degree of fame - no idea why.

it is my understanding that Microsoft 365 for your Android, consists only of the main apps, excluding Outlook. Outlook I “think” is a separate download. I believe it’s their new One Outlook for everybody” approach to cleaning up all the versions.

All you should need to do is go to the Play Store and download Outlook, set up your email address and all should be find. This will be a IMAP address, I am not sure that the Outlook App has PST capabilities yet?

Once you have install the Outlook app, with your Microsoft 365 account email address, the Calendar should be at the bottom of the app.

1. On an Android phone, go to the Play Store, search for Outlook, and install the Outlook app.
2. Open the app and tap Get Started.
3. Enter your Microsoft 365 email address and password, and tap Sign in.
4. Optionally, you can add more accounts, or tap Skip.
5. After swiping through the guided tour, you will see your email, calendar, and contacts in the Outlook mobile app.

The easiest way is what @antspants said. Once everything is installed and the account setup, you can click on the calendar icon in the app and after that on the icon in top left corner, which will let you choose which calendars you want to display (you can have many).

The first mobile phone the medics on call had was really brick size. The battery part was close to the size of a couple of house bricks. The handset about a brick on it's own. Not exactly portable. Thinking back on it, it was ridiculous. The MO who wanted it was miffed because he was out on his boat on the estuary and he had to go back to shore when his bleep went off.
