I'm using an Alienware M18 - Windows 11 Pro on an i9-13980, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 with 64GB RAM, and as stated in the title, I keep getting STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION and STATUS_BREAKPOINT while browsing and DWM keeps crashing.

Here's what I've done so far.
  • Reinstalled display drivers
  • Removed all extensions in my browser
  • created a new profile in my browser, without any extensions or previous browsing data
  • created a new user account on the PC
  • disconnected every peripheral
  • ran sfc and DISM
  • reinstalled windows keeping apps and data
  • reinstalled windows using windows update
  • reinstalled windows by formatting the hard drive, switching from RAID 0 to AHCI mode (I got a BSOD right after Windows 11 23H2 installation and STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION when I tried to look-up the error)
  • reinstalled Windows using the recovery partition and reverting to RAID 0 mode.

After all these, I'm still getting these errors in EVERY browser. Initially, I thought this was a chromium based problem but I'm getting it on chrome, edge, yandex, brave, opera and even firefox.

Then I get The Desktop Window Manager process has exited. (Process exit code: 0xc0000005, Restart count: 1, Primary display device ID: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU)

I updated my BIOS and run any and every update available, I'm still getting these errors.

At this point, I'm very frustrated.

Can anyone help me before I end p smashing this computer like the infamous "bad day" video from the 90s.

PS: I've even run memtest86 and got no errors. Run the full Dell diagnostics and got no errors.

Perhaps you may get more help if you moved your post here >> BSOD Crash Analysis

It looks as though you may have to run selective startup and go through each feature one by one to determine more precisely what is causing this issue. Running Windows debugging helped me with my SAV on my Dell/Win 11 laptop. You might give that a go if you haven't already. That seems to be a pretty new unit. Dell tech support should also be able to help you with your issue free of charge as it should still be under warranty. Anyway that's all I have for now. Try the BSOD forum. I find the support there is of the highest calibre.

Gave Dell touch screen with Windows 11 to daughter and got me an OTVOC. Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
Thank You. You're right about the warranty. Will reach out to them. But also about moving the post, do I delete this and post there?

Just leave it to the mods. They'll know what to do with it. I still recommend posting the lead post on that thread I shared. There's a chance those fellows might be able to help you even faster than a Dell technician. They're very good at what they do. :)

Is this a BSOD? if not then it shouldn't be in the BSOD section.

STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION and STATUS_BREAKPOINT are common BSOD notifications. I'm assuming if his system keeps crashing that is what is going on.
