good compression
Depends on what you call good. I use normal compression with Macrium. My OS is 75gb. Image is 45 gb. I have never tried the highest compression setting as normal compression is recommended and storage space is not a problem..

@Bree post #316 in this thread provided a link and I verified it is still valid. But know that the last free version of Macrium is 8.0 and still works fine. However, if you manually applied the secure boot revocations addressing the Black Lotus bootkit(or whenever MS automatically applies these reocations within the next 6 months or so.), recovery media created with this version will not boot. If you have secure boot turned off, this version of Macrium should work indefinely Latest Macrium Reflect updates

Right now, Macrium 8.1 is one-time pay software and Macrium has released a notice how to make its recovery media work with the secure boot revocations.. Beginning in 2024 Macrium 9 is going to a lease model ($47 a year).

There is other imaging software out there that is still free, but I have no knowledge how (or if) they will address the revocations. Macrium is all I have used for many years and will continue to use it as long as I can. In my cases,I have secure boot tuned off until MS forces me to turn it on.

As cereberus says, registration is optional. It is selected by default, but I always un-ticked the box when installing Reflect Free. You gained nothing by registering except getting marketing emails. Reflect is fully functional whether you register or not.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.
