Solved Is it possible to turn off the color management on my HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer

Is possible to turn off the color management on my HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer. I want to have either Lightroom or Photoshop control which ICC profile to use.

As a photographer who prints his own work for sell, you can simply bypass the Printer's color management system in favor of either Photoshop or Lightroom. I've done it plenty of times (well from Photoshop, but Lightroom also has print capabilities). Simply open the app you want to print from and tell it to ignore the printer's driver.



By telling Photoshop to manage colors you put the color management system in Photoshop's hands, not the printer. In the printer there should be an option to turn color management off so that there's no conflict with Photoshop. I don't use HP printers so I can't say what setting to use.

I don't know if you have the same available settings or not, but I have an HP 8600. When I go to settings>Bluetooth & devices>select printer>select Printer Properties. Click on color management tab>click on color management. There are all kinds of settings related to profiles.

If that is not what you want, poke around in the HP Smart app which I'm sure you downloaded from the Microsoft store to install your printer. I don't have the app myself to see what features are offered in the app. HP instructions for the app says "To manage the printer, click the picture of your printer on the home screen to change preferences and options, check the printer status, and more."
You might find some settings there to turn off color management.

And it's the best way to do it since the OP wants Photoshop to manage his colors as shown in the image. You do point out though how to access the printer's color management settings, but that's after telling Photoshop to use its system instead of the printer.

Edited to say Lightroom WILL manage colors over the printer per the paper profile chosen from Lightroom....



That said, I've never printed from Lightroom. I actually use a third-party RIP program called ImagePrint. Before that, I was either using Photoshop or the printer's driver depending on what I was printing - B&W on the printer, color from Photoshop.

I find the Lightroom Print Module easy to use and very good

I've never printed from Lightroom. For me, I find it too limiting. On the other hand Photoshop, as well as Epson's print driver can't match the capabilities of ImagePrint. lots of control there. But that's an expensive program.

For my Epson 3880, the program cost as much as the printer - printer was $900, ImagePrint was $850. It's a very good program though, and never have to worry about paper profiles, as it supports all brands. Plus, the company will create a paper profile free of charge if you find paper not supported. I don't just use Epson papers, but also Cranson, and Hahnemuhle.

If you're not selling or serious about printing, I wouldn't recommend it due to its expense as Photoshop, and Epson's pro series printers do an excellent job as well. Though I think Epson's print driver does an excellent job with B&W prints.
