Is MS ever going to fix Networking? as it worked ages ago. I am really not happy with networking in Windows 11. It is constantly unstable, not working, or some bs. that they say why they refuse to let it work. They keep adding tons of stuff I bet no one cares about, bloatware. But refuse the basics. IMHO

If you upgraded from Windows 10, you might want to try resetting network adapters. No one here can answer a question like that. We can only give suggestions to troubleshoot your issues. I personally never had an issue with networking since I upgraded from Windows 10.
We need more context regarding the issues you have.

I fail to see what's wrong with Windows and networking. Like already said, be more specific about your issues.

I understand and appreciate your frustrations, which are held by many.
You’re quite correct, it used to be so very simple. But this is why improvements (maybe we just call them changes) needed to be made. Nobody wants to be compromised, the hackers are relentless.

Adaptation is key. As mentioned, I know that you know help is readily available in this forum, if you let members know what’s going on. 🙏

i have found with Windows 11 24H2 that static IPs and addressing seems to bypass quite a few of the networking problems.
i have everything on my network set with static IPs and addressing and thus far no problems. (touch wood)
also all the addressing within the router is reserved for each and every system. that way i can track problems easier.

that is just my opinion, nothing more.

We have thousands of windows 11 machines at work that are all networked just fine. My windows 11 machine participates just fine on my home network.

I'm not aware of any major or even persistent small networking problems with windows 11.

Not having any problems with my LAN, have 5 Desktops using Ethernet connections to the Wireless Router, 2 printers [LaserJet and OfficeJet] and a NAS drive. Usually have 1 Desktop and 3 Notebooks connected Wireless/Wi-Fi. A mix of Win7, Win10 Pro and Home, Win11 Pro and Home along with Linux Mint. I don't try to Map computers, use the NAS for storage and Map it when needed to share files. I have a Wireless DSL Modem connected to the Router for Internet.

Same. . I'm not having any issues either. Map Networking Drives are working perfectly, my internet is stable, etc. .

Yeah, no kidding . . . does anyone really use Norton anymore? Countless years ago the more bloated and problematic it got, I swore I'd never use anything Norton ever again. I haven't used Norton ever since.

RE: Windows 11 networking, everything has worked fine for me on about 8 different Windows 11 PCs

I have placed ALL my Win11 PCs on pause for updates. I have about 20 devices on my network. On win11 24H there are only 2. Those 2 do not see several of the other PCs and one NAS (Zyxel NAS520). I have tried MOST all the suggestions and NO joy. I know it's most likely related to changes in SMB. When MS makes changes like this the average user that has networked devices is at a loss as to how to fix things. MS needs to ADD some options to it's Network setup in Settings so these users, who are not network engineers, can fix the dang network! Like an option to "Make it like Win 11 23H"!

OK I'm done my rant....continue on.

@flhthemi for what it's worth, I also have a Zyxel NAS (Zyxel Nas540). All Win 11 23H2 and mapped Zyxel NAS drives are working ok so, maybe it's a weird 24H2 only type glitch?
A 24H2 bug that hasn't been fixed yet?

I have 2 Windows 11 PCs, 3 Windows 10 PCs, 2 Linux Mint PCs, a NAS, a Raspberry Pi3B+ and 2 smart TVs plus multiple mobile phones on my network. To my surprise, everything works perfectly for me. This has not always been the case though. Windows networking has been very random success and failure for years.

@retiredat44, I know the frustration your having with networking. I was ready to pull my hair out trying to get my desktops to connect to my Mini PC. I forget what member helped me to get it working. It's late at at night and my brain is running on empty. I do know that they posted a how-to guide that got my computers connecting. If you explain in detail your problem, I'm sure some of the members can help you get networking running like it should.
