Is my motherboard dying/died

Went to turn on my pc and nothing happend, pc didn't do anything.

The rog strix motherboard light is on so I know there's power there,

If I unplug the pcie cable from the top left of the MB which I belive is cpu power and unplug the graphics card power and turn the pc on it looks like it starts up.

Plug in either the graphics card or cpu power cable and I get nothing.

I've attached a different PSU a newer one but still 850w, now with this one my pc looks like it's booting up with the CPU power plugged in but not with the GFX card plugged in, soon as I plug the GFX card power with the new PSU nothing happens again.

Does this point towards the motherboard being faulty? I don't have another to try and test it

It seems to point more at a faulty GPU. However, try unplugging it from the wall, and then grounding yourself with a static electricity wrist strap (or some other method to make sure you've gotten rid of static electricity) and try removing your GPU and then re-seating it.

If it is not seated properly, the PSU might detect what is, for all intents and purposes, an electrical short scenario, and protect the mobo by not allowing it to boot.

Thank you for the reply, I've got a bit of an update,

I changed the GPU, I have an older one so tried that, the pc started up but after a few minutes the screen just went black and could get it to come back on.

The pc started to give post beeps which it didn't before, one long 3 short a pause the ln a normal beep like it's going to start up, searching what this means points to the memory,

I have 2 8gb matching pair sticks of ram,
So I tried each of the sticks on there own and tried different slots and got the same post beeps.

I got 2 new matching pair sticks off amazon,
tried them and still getting the same post beeps .

Before I now get and try a new motherboard is there anything else it could be? Cpu maybe, would i get that error post if it was the cpu?

I believe that 3 beeps indicates a memory error.

However, a memory error could be due to a problem with the CPU or the motherboard. It seems likely to be one or both of those, considering the RAM swapping you've tried. I hope that the RAM (old or new) hasn't been damaged.

Ok thanks, sounds like your saying whatever the problem is it may be damaging the RAM hence the reason it's still giving the same post error with the new RAM installed?

No.

A damaged CPU or MB can give memory errors.

The possibility that it's actually damaging the RAM is a remote one, I hope.

In addition to the above try replacing the CR2032 mainboard battery since a PC can fail to boot if the voltage drops much below 3V.
