That's just a false positive, you can ignore it.
I've used Minitool Partition Wizard on Win 7/10/11 with zero issues.

I do have C:\Program Files\MiniTool Partition Wizard 12\partitionwizard.exe blocked in my firewall though.

I don't see any reason for it to... "call home". :-)

This is so weird. I updated my Minitool 9/5/24. I have no exclusions set for it in either Defender or Malwarebytes Premium. Both scan my system clean. How do we know who to believe?

Well it won't even let me launch it, even when I tell ESET to ignore it since that remote code execution (in pix 2) occurs.

True, I did try this in Windows 10 but that shouldn't make any difference.

This download came directly from the partitionwizard website linked in post #5

I then cleaned it up with Revo and did a malwarebytes scan afterwards. So far, so good.

ESET doesn't say it's a virus, just that it's a 'potentially unwanted program' (well it would be, based on the fact it can modify partitions).

Have you specifically excluded PowerDataRecoveryUI.dll?

You'll probably have to just temporarily disable ESET, and then download the installer.
Then install Minitool, and then exclude: PowerDataRecoveryUI.dll
Then you should be able to re-enable ESET.

I can safely guess that about 80% of the people on here, use Minitool.

That's a good example, why programs like Mini Tool should be run from a Boot Disk (or bootable Flash Drive) avoiding any conflicts with Windows.

Several years ago, I got a free copy of the Mini Tool Partition Manager, (Directly from the Authors) and the downloaded file created a bootable CD. I've basically copied that CD to a Flash Drive, and incidentally, I'm using that program right now, to so some work on an old Seagate 2TB hard drive.

Windows and certain AV or AS software can be a real PITA sometimes, so it's better to just avoid it all together.

Likewise, I run my HD Backup software from a Bootable Flash Drive too! Don't give Windows a chance to muck it up!!!

The last version of MiniTools Partition Manager to have a free boot ISO download was 9.1. The ISO can still be downloaded from the archived pages in the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. There are many ways to make a bootable USB from an ISO, the one I use is the portable edition of AnyBurn Free: Download AnyBurn

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

All VirusTotal is saying is that ESET detects malware, no other antimalware listed does. I think that says more about ESET than anything else - either overzealous or incorrect.

A false positive by any other name ....
