VideoCardz Newz:
At ISSCC, Samsung will discuss its new 24 Gb (3GB) and 42.5 GB/s GDDR7 memory with low-power Write Clock distribution, Read Clock optimizations, and voltage/time margin-enhanced power reduction.
In October, the company revealed it is working on 40 Gbps module but also confirmed it is possible to implement further enhancements that will bring this speed up to 42.5 Gbps, so it appears that Samsung is now ready to reveal how to achieve this:
In addition to the advanced process node, three-level Pulse-Amplitude Modulation (PAM3) signaling is used to help achieve the industry-leading speed for graphics DRAM of 40 gigabits-per-second (Gbps), a 25% improvement over the previous version. The GDDR7's performance can be further enhanced to up to 42.5Gbps, depending on the usage environment.
