Trying to link Win 11 (22H2) laptop to a Win 10 (version 21H2) with a classic Ethernet cable, which worked fine before with W10 to W10. Now credentials are required though, but which ones? Not the MS account password apparently. How do i find them?
Why does it have to be so complcated if I'm the only one using the system....

Welcome to the forum. The proper way to connect 2 computers together is to use a special cable called a crossover cable.
Sharing has to be set up correctly on both computers. The password it is asking for is the other computer's password.

Thanks for all options. The Ethernet option seems like stone age and the cable primitive, so I tried now the Bluetooth variety. Both Win10 and Win 11 can "see" each other on the screens. But, when trying to test and send a file, a checking dialog pops up:
" Add a device "(The other PC) and "Press connect if the PIN on the other PC matches" (six digits). I tried the MS account PIN which is only four digits and of course it doesn't work. Where do I find the PIN for the Win11 ?
