One of the issues was a particular Intel sound thing. Can’t remember what it was called. If it’s less than 10 days I think you can roll back. If not, do you have an image you can install from 23H2? If not then you could clean install 23H2 but you’d need to back up all files and then reinstall them and also reinstall all programs.

It’s an issue with Intel smart sound technology

It helps to have regular system images 😊. If you have an image of 22H2 you could install that quite quickly. And easily and then just let it upgrade to 23H2. But - presumably your image won’t have recent files on - so you’d still need to back up all your files first and then add them back after installing 22H2 and letting it upgrade to 23H2. Presumably your image would include your programs at least? If your imagine included files it’s probably easier to delete them all and re-add the up to date file back up you do now.

To install the 22H2 image you just need windows 11 (any version) on usb and your external drive with your image on. Boot from the windows usb and select repair / then troubleshoot and you should see the option to restore from an image - it’ll then find your image - it's quite quick. But - make her you copy all your files somewhere first!

This would work if you’re using supported hardware (ie 8th gen onwards). If it’s unsupported hardware it won’t upgrade to 23H2 from 22H2 - you’d have to do it manually and woukd need a copy of 23H2 then.

I think what I would do is

1) Back up (copy and paste) all files and folders to an external drive. Including exporting bookmarks to the external drive. And make a note of all programs installed
2) Restore your 22H2 image. Let it keep doing Windows updates until you have 23H2 and various updates after that. Obviously don’t install 24H2 when that comes up.

3)Then make another image once you have 23H2 installed and updated - so you can easily go back to 23H2 again if needed.

4) Restore all your files and any programs . When everything is done and updated and back to normal

5) Make another image - 23H2 with all your files and programs.

Sorry for any typos - I’m on my phone.

When you say you have 22H2 on bootable usb, do you just mean you have a Windows 11 bootable usb, not an actual system image of your system on Windows 11 22H2? If so then you'd need to clean install Windows 22H2 and let all the updates go and all the drivers etc. So you'd definitely need to reinstall all your programs then and restore your backed up files.

Alternatively put up with it until an update fixes it?

The audio seems to be an ASUS variation of a Realtek audio chipset, with a Sonic Studio overlay App, according to ASUS.

The fact you have to Restart suggests an Audio service has stopped.

Simple measures like altering the volume level can restart the audio services.

To find the Audio services go to the Task Manager > Services > look for "AudioEndpointBuilder" and "Audiosrv"

Those should be running, if not right click > Restart.

Also in the Task Manager > Startup apps > look for a Realtek service, on mine it is called "RtkAudUservice64.exe" or something like that, though from the name appears to relate to an update service, should be enabled, I think.

You can also use the Sound troubleshooter, that includes restarting those services.
Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other trouble-shooters > Audio > Run.

ASUS only seem to provide Windows 10 drivers, so install those, then go Windows Updates.

OPMG this error is so annoying how long yet do you think it can take to fix? it was reported already like 26 december and i have set get updates as they are available soonest even non-security right now

Yeah i can't get 23H2 iso directly. .. :/
Microsoft provides only latest version ISO file on public website, hence you won't be able to get 23H2 ISO from there.

If you've paid Visual Studio subscription, you can download Windows 11 23H2 ISO using that.

That is the problem...according to reports, MS has no clue what the issue is...so it may take a very long time. 24H2 is riddled with bugs. I can't even install it on any of my machines. (Note that my CPUs are not on their supported lists)
