Macrium Reflect needs some help-

Problem: Reflect failed to run for ~3 weeks before the condition became apparent.

Attempted solution: Reflect has no onboard ability to send an error if it sees it hasn't run. Support said the obvious, if we're not running we don't know there's an error.

Here's what I think would help and why I'm here. I have to think the Reflect scheduler is using Windows scheduler. So there should be some way for another app that would constantly run in the background to monitor the scheduler and send an alert if it sees an app not run. I looked into Windows Notifications and didn't see the ability.

Suggestions?

Mark

I don't use scheduling but have to tried deleting all the schedules and setting them again?

Did you look in Windows Task Scheduler for Macrium Reflect entries? There should be some errors if so.

I just set a schedule in MR and it does NOT appear in Windows Task Scheduler.

Maybe, maybe not. From Reflect v8 onwards Reflect has its own Macrium Task Scheduler. See the Knowledge Base for how to check which you're using, and how to check and interpret the results codes.

Macrium Reflect uses either the built-in Macrium Task Scheduler or the standard Windows Task Scheduler to schedule backups. This article shows you how to check the status of your most recently run scheduled tasks.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

I'm ver 10.0 paid auto annual. Since I install as defaulted, I'm using the MR scheduler which makes my quest more the difficult. Again, how can I (assume using a third party app) watch the MR scheduler for when it fails to run and report back since MR cannot do this on its own?

Instead of looking at the scheduler, look at the results. For example, if it is a weekly backup, write a script to confirm there is an output file created in the last 7 days. Run the script in a Command Prompt window from "Startup", so it is on your screen.
Or you could run it in Windows Task Scheduler, and have it alert you somehow (send an email or put a big "Fail" message on your desktop?).
Task Scheduler can start a task at a specific time, or whenever the computer wakes up.

The "we're not running" excuse does not apply anyway. Reflect has its own scheduler, and there are 3 Macrium "services". Those services are running 24/7!
Also, the next time you start Reflect, whether scheduled or manual, it is running, and has the status; it then has the opportunity to detect and alert you (either on-screen or email?) to the one(s) that were missed. Also if it was missed because the computer was turned off, there is another opportunity when the services are started (no more "we're not running").

As a workaround, I use the email option in Reflect X to send an email to myself, with a different subject for success or fail. If no message, it didn't run. But I need to remember to look for it. At least if one out of 4 computers misses the schedule I'll see 3 messages instead of 4. This might help until your schedule works reliably.
