Solved Macrium Reflect?

Hi,

I installed the attached version. Is that correct for creating full backups of W11?

What partitions do I need to check before creating a full backup?

Check all hidden partitions (no drive letter), c drive partitions, and optionally any other psrtitions with data.

Also select any partitions if you have redirected sysyem folders or installed programs that are not portable. If in doubt select all partitions.

That's right, it will offer updates if/when any.
When creating a full backup just check boxes for disk and it's partitions which to back up. Make sure device to which you are backing up is in good order, has enough space and if external to be connected before starting MR.

Using Macrium Reflect

Hey gang, will Macrium Reflect copy all my files, pictures and OS system in the cloning procedure to make a back-up of everything ?? If so anyone have an excellent video to follow ?? Never used Macrium before, so this will be all new to me !! Chuck

What exactly do you mean by hidden......as shown in the attachment, there could be more than 5?

If no, than only 1,2,3,4 be checked to create a full backup?

Checking 1,2,3,4 containing W11 every thing else is fine....D is empty?

Just make sure all of them are checked as default and image the whole disk.
Note partition 4 is bitlocked and so is the C drive. Most probably you will need to unlock the partitions first before imaging.

You mean the whole SSD including D partition.....1-5?

Few options here

Choose first one if you want whole disk toback up, second one is just for everythig needed to run windows excluding non system partitions like D for instance
Example my disk with Windows. First option

Second option

Note that partition 5 which is my game partition is not included with this option because it doesn't belong to Windows system

Exactly, thanks for making it clear. Why would I want a Data, Games etc. to image.

I feel option #2 is practical, but Ill try both though D is empty.

Reflect can handle bitlocked partitions.

Several reasons. One is that data is usually more important than windows itself, that you can always reinstall but personal and other important data can be irreplaceable. Games partition I always include because they would not work on reinstalled windows and most would would be useless all by themselves.

It looks like it's Device Encryption not Bitlocker but they're very similar. Will it image sector by sector then?

Meaning would take longer to create/restore a full back up?

I don't know as I've never imaged an encrypted partition before.

@cereberus says Macrium will image a locked drive. You need to see Dell's info about Device Encryption.
