I've done this more than once before but I can't for the life of me remember how nor can I find which section of the program I should be looking in. There is a setting on how you want newly USB-attached items to behave. I want it set so that it opens the window of any USB drive I plug in automatically. I've set it there and reset it also but for some reason, it stops opening a USB window and I have to set it again. Now I've just got to find it. Help!

Thanks Edwin. That's what I thought it was and how mine is set. However one USB I'm looking at still doesn't open automatically. There must be something different going on with that drive since it also doesn't get an audio acknowledgment when it's plugged in like most everything usually does. However, when I find it in File Explorer it opens just fine. I'll just rack it up to a funny drive acting strangely. I appreciate the quick assist.

Some storage devices are recognized by Windows as Non-volume Devices. So, verify that AutoPlay is still enabled for Non-volume Devices.
Option Two, Step 2: also note, instead of using the .reg file you can open an elevated command prompt to run the following commands:
reg delete HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer /v NoAutoplayfornonVolume /f
reg delete HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer /v NoAutoplayfornonVolume /f
