Windows 11 home
Hi, please help
When trying to map a network drive in Win11 home (client) to a computer (server) also running Win11 home, I receive the message:
"The network drive cannot be connected because the following error occurred
An extended error occurred"
That's all I receive from Win 11

I map it like this:
\\NTBFRIH\AMICUS
or
\\192.168.0.173\AMICUS
In the explorer I see the icon of the computer (server) NTBFRIH, but I can't click on it
The folder \\NTBFRIH\AMICUS is set as shared - it works for the client with Windows 10 home, see below.
and there is advanced sharing on both computers..
The PING command is both ways Ok, I know it's the lowest layer of communication....
The problem is on the client side on a year old Lenovo All in One with Win11 home.

Originally, on the client side (the nurse's computer in the medical clinic) there was an Acer NTB with Win10 home
and there was no problem with mapping from Win 10 to Win11.
The settings on the server (the doctor's workplace) were preserved. When I go back to the NTB client with Win 10, everything works.
To be on the safe side, I put a new TP link instead of the old Tenda router - it didn't help.
I also put a Dell NTB with Win 10 home in the nurse's workplace instead of the aforementioned Lenovo Allinone. It doesn't work with the DELL NTB either.
It seems to me that Win 11 home doesn't understand Win 11 home in this case.
I have tested it in several medical clinics that Win 10 works on Win 10, there have never been any problems with mapping.
Both computers are running the latest version of Windows 11 home 24H2, Build 2610.2605

I have tried the recommendations below, but they did not help.

I have used the command:
NET USE X: \\192.168.0.173\Amicus and NET USE X: \\NTBFRIH\Amicus
but I get the error: "A system error 3227320323 has occurred"

Thanks everyone for the advice.

Welcome to Eleven Forum.

Are you using Win11 24H2? There are stricter default security restrictions than in 23H2. By default 24H2 does not allow insecure guest connections. This applies to Home as well as Pro. You can change this behaviour.

I recently clean installed 24H2 Home. Against expectations it had the same restriction as Pro, an account with no password cannot connect to shares on any other PC. Unlike Pro though, there is no gpedit.exe to be able to change this. To allow insecure outgoing connections, open Regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters. Create a new DWORD, name it RequireSecuritySignature and set its value to 0.
Windows 11 cannot access other computers, but can be accessed by the other computers - post #34

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.
