March updates missing?

I too have OCD. Windows 11 almost did me in. LOL
You have no idea how difficult this has been. :( I was forced to build a new PC for Windows 11 and keep the price below 1,500 (AUD). I had issues building the PC. I am 41 and the last PC I built was a Gen3 i3770 (12 years ago) I have not kept myself educated about pc building and new technologies so yeah massive learning curve for me.

So new PC fresh install on Win 24H2

The next windows update is 5 weeks away.
Would it be a good idea to install the May Cumulative update preview? The update should be in what 2-3 weeks? To see if my windows update history is broken? at least I don't need to wait until the 15th of May.

If anyone is reading this and thinks I am crazy here is the explanation. In the past I would verify if I had the latest updates (including past ones) in Windows 10 via the control panel install history.

What is stressing me is that for whatever reason windows has changed policies which I was unaware of about how they report updates.
I see a lot of people are saying to ignore what windows update history says so long as you can verify you have the latest update.

I built a PC for my dad and went to his house to compare the output from the code @garlin gave to the windows update history and the dates in the code did not match the actual windows update history.

I am so tempted to do a fresh install but logic tells me that would be a stupid idea. As it takes me about 2 days to set everything up. Each time I do a fresh install I encounter a new problem!

In conclusion. Windows 11 sucks. (I hope I can say that here)

James.

April 2025 Preview Update will drop on April 22. Normally it's optional, but you can click to install it.

That is great news. Are there any downsides to installing cumulative update previews?
how are they different from the dev and beta releases?

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?

If I get the preview on the 22nd of April will I get the cumulative May the 15th?

This is my last question :)

Monthly and Preview Updates alternate in cycles. Patch Tuesday is every 2nd Tuesday of the month. Preview Tuesday is every 4th Tuesday.

This release schedule allows IT admins to test the non-security parts of the next Monthly patch before it arrives. Most organizations are required to install the Monthly patches in a short time because they contain security fixes, and the Previews don't.

Previews are considered optional, but some people want to get a head start on newly announced features.
