I am back to continue being a pest, at which I excel...

Before I make things worse, please look at the image and tell me how to move the search box to its proper location. Thanks in advance, so that I don't forget to say that I appreciate the continuing assistance as I strive to recover from the spam disaster.

I noticed that I have an earlier, smaller screen capture of this. Perhaps this was already discussed. if so, I don't recall that; my feeble excuse is that I cannot keep track of the very slowly fixing the myriad errors.

New experience: First time I received a notification of a reply from here.

Thai is what I wrote. I had posted it, then reopened it and added the last paragraph. I don''t even recall if I got any response to that earlier post, but do not recall such. That is what prompted me to write this, along with my belated realization that, with so many problems and my having forgotten such things as names of the bars not having had to change them for long that it would be best for me to deal with only one problem at a time.

As far as I can discern, I have only one problem with Thunderbird (Tb) email; When I click on "Send," I get asked to enter my password, which is the same password entered in the settings for the program. I have no way to know if this was caused by what I call the "Spam Disaster," only that it did not exist quo ante. I am awaiting a reply from one of the Tb experts in the MozillaZine fora.

And how does this relate to a Misplaced Search box? This may be why no-one is replying

According to your image, what you've done is put the Bookmark items on the Address Bar placeholder...
(You should have mentioned which browser, etc..., would have taken a lot of guess work out of the equation!)

... you need to drag the Bookmark items back down to the Bookmarks Bar, then the search box will fix itself...

Browser is Firefox; don't know what the "etc." covers. I have no idea how that icon got there, don't even want it, but that is hardly the only remaining items to be solved. Oops, I don't see the icon that I am supposed to move; the only one is Extensions, which I don't need.

Sigh: My wife's ancient computer appeared to have died this morning. I have had to restart it a number of times, but today that seemed to act differently and make a single sound and give up. Later, just before I began to get ready to remove the machine and monitor and finally set up my previous Dell XPS 50, which is much better than the Dell Inspiron which she is using, I idly pressed the power button, to presented with the log-on page.

At least I fixed the only know problem with Thunderbird email, when I finally figured out why I was being asked if I wanted to save my password on outgoing mail using the Password Manager. It took me a while to understand what that is, so I checked and, yes, there was one missing password, which I got the Manager to enter.

I decided this morning to see if I could move whatever it was that was causing the search box to be so narrow, so I used the More Tools entry, put the cursor on the "whatever," and dragged it in to the list of items, making a mental (if I may be accused of that) note of its name. That left me with a full-width search box, an empty bar, and no bar with my chosen icons. I was able to remedy that, even finding that a stray tab or whatever had strayed into my icon bar which could be removed by using "cut."

It is quite relieving to once again have a basically usable browser screen, and not have to spend an inordinate amount of time and be frustrated by a basically unusable browser screen. I thought that I wanted to rearrange the three bars, so I did a search for that, and found that, while it can be done, it is not really easy, and is a facet of the recent Firefox update. I shall simply have to get used to the way it is; meanwhile I am going to take yet another look at the Firefox help site to see if perhaps a few of the small items on the screen that I don't need can be removed.

That leaves only one major item, major for me if no one else, the missing strange icon that brings up my lengthy list of sites to click on. I certainly do not recall how I first created that list with its rather unusual icon; I don't even know what it is called. I know only that it exists, as once or twice in my attempts to fix matters I saw it, but could not do anything with it.
