????You need to make your problem clearer. What do you mean by this. Details would be helpful.

Another TaskManager question

1701030120926.png
Trying to keep Discord from being a startup app. Noticed that I had done this before (See Status) yet it still starts up automatically. Also seems to be disguising itself as "Update.exe" and it seems to be carrying a whole lot of baggage along with it.
How do I remove it as a startup app?

Also any GREAT Task manager tutorials?

OK what about 84 instances of svchost.exe in Task Manager?

So I look it up in Lifewire
What Is Svchost.exe (Service Host)? and find out
It is a legitimate system process used in the Windows OS...a critical system component provided by Microsoft in Windows operating systems...IF...it's stored here: %SystemRoot%\System32\ or %SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\.
otherwise
it could be a virus. It goes on to say that even if it is a "virus looking service" there are plenty of places online to Google it.

And then it goes on to say that these guys tend to take up a lot of memory...

But the kicker is the number of antivirus programs it recommends that might work and another bootable one that "runs outside of Windows" in case the others fail. Then there are the "nested services" in some of them that you might need Process Explorer to locate.

One of the longest issues of How to Geek (Oct 2023). Says a lot but recommends little...
