MSI Katana webcam led is constantly blinking, how to fix?

I'm using a MSI Katana GF76 11UD, and the webcam led blinks when the webcam is in use instead of a steady on led and it's super annoying. Is there any possible fix to this? I've checked the MSI forums, but it seems MSI is being just as helpful as Microsoft Answers, which is like zero.

Unfortunately I don't think there is a way to fix this problem to be honest. Whether or not software could be created for it - I'm not sure. I understand if you don't want to cover with tape since it might look tacky. So what about a webcam cover?



They're dead cheap (ignore delivery on this one) and come in all shapes and sizes. You can partly open it to cover the light but not the camera, or alternatively you can just put this on the light rather than the camera

Yeah when I saw that response to that question... it was incredibly unhelpful - especially since no matter how much research you do into a computer and it's specs and it's quality - whether or not the webcam blinks or not isn't going to be something you'd think to check.

I was hoping there would be some sort of software side solution that I wouldn't have known to be possible. I can stick a tape or something on the light, but I do like knowing when my webcam is on.

It does look like there is a firmware update for this laptop dated yesterday, but I haven't found any notes as to what was fixed or if people have noticed severe problems with it and had to revert - I'm just borrowing this laptop and don't want to do that deep of a change without permission and knowing if it's buggy or not.

I wouldn't delve too deep into the internet for fixes, could be viruses.
