My new build - went a bit mad!

I've had my AMD X570 Aorus Xtreme since Jan 2020, I considered getting an X670 a couple of years ago but held off.

Now I've finally got round to getting some new parts, and went a bit mad!

Case: BeQuiet Dark Base Pro 901

PSU: Seasonic Prime PX-2200 (plenty of juice but massive overkill). No problem running a 5090 in the future!

Motherboard: MSI MEG X870E Godlike. This is the daddy of AMD boards, utterly ridiculous and over-engineered. Only Scan UK seem to be selling them

CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D

RAM: Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB 6000 CL30

Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S chromax

That's the new parts, I'm using my existing MSI 3080 Ti Suprim X and my Samsung storage drives - 990 Pro 2TB, 980 Pro 2TB and 870 Evo 4TB. Drives and GPU will be upgraded at some point

I've been saving up for a while, and thought why not just go mad and splash out!

I dropped all the parts off at the local PC shop yesterday, hopefully I'll get it back by the weekend

Sounds like a really nice build.

I run the BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler on my 5900x and it's been outstanding. Would love to see what you think about your case.

I could and have before but it's been a few years. I lack confidence and patience now.
At least if the shop messes up they're insured!

The case looks nice from what I've seen so far. Lots of space and customization

I looked at the Dark Rock elite cooler but even with the massive Dark Base case the cooler fan wouldn't fit above the 57mm RAM sticks

I already had the same Noctua cooler in my just-dismantled build, can't fault them at all

Seasonic Prime PX-2200? Not for sale in the US. Needs EU 230V power.

Gross excess, unless you plan to run something more power hungry than a single RTX 4090 or 5090.

But if you're prepared to get a MSI MEG X870E Godlike ($1.1k list in the US), excess wouldn't be an issue for you.

The motherboard cost £1200 here in the UK!
Yes the PSU is excessive, however it's the newest model that comes with the updated 12V 2X6 GPU cables in the box

yeah, i was NOT criticizing the noctua setup, I was just saying i used some Be Quiet stuff and had been quite happy with it so interested to see your thoughts on the case, since I haven't used a BeQuiet case.

I know you weren't criticizing, I would have liked the DR Elite. The case looks really good

£1.2k seem little dear, even if that includes VAT. (At the present exchange rate, 1.1k USD to GBP +20% would be about £1060.)

No VAT here, but some areas have both state and local sales taxes. Their sum can approach 10%.

So far, my 12VHPWR connector hasn't melted. (It clicks when it's fully inserted.)
