Network credentials incorrect

Two PCs with Windows 11 connected to the FritzBox 7590 AX. All updates installed.

Everything has worked for years, but now I have to enter the user name and password for every network connection. When I do this, I get the error message that the password is incorrect. Repeating this many times does not change anything. Restarting does not help. The network settings have not been changed.

Why do I get this error message?

Where are you trying to log in?
To your Fritzbox? You will have to use login name and password for your Fritzbox.
Or to another PC. You will have to use login name and password of the other PC / user on that PC.

In the past I have had several problems logging in into other windows PC's, that look like yours. Sometimes it's functioning, sometimes not. Especially when the one PC has another Windows version than the other (ie. Win10 vs Win11).

My final solution for that was to attach a SSD USB 3 external drive to the Fritzbox and use that as central storage (NAS).
No more problems, from every PC I can reach the NAS, even from my Android tablet.

If the other pc uses a pin instead of a password, you sometimes have to physically (not remotely) log into that computer using a password at least once

Maybe what worked for me will fit your situation. I bypassed all the credential junk by turning off password protected sharing in all my systems and giving everyone full control.Sharing in Windows is tenuous at best so I didn't want to make it more complicated than it has to be. I used the control panel method.

I haven't understood that yet. I tried a bit, but it didn't change anything.

That's what I mean:

KI tells me:
But I can't deactivate password

According to the AI, you can switch off the password-protected network so that you can access a second PC without a password.

This does not work for me.

Now I have completely reinstalled Windows 11 on an empty partition and the same error message appears again.

This means that all settings in Windows 11 have been ruled out as the cause of the error.

That leaves only the FritzBox 7590 AX.

I'll keep looking!

Did you install version 24H2? There are tighter security restrictions in 24H2.

Does the account you try to connect with have a password? If not then 24H2 will not let you connect.

To allow insecure outgoing connections, open Regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters
Create a new DWORD, name it RequireSecuritySignature and set its value to 0.

I went to Credentials Manager and deleted all the devices that were there. Then I entered them all again and it worked for me. I might have been able to just re-enter the passwords for each one but I was a little miffed about it at the time. It might be that 24H is rehashing the passwords?
