There's always a need later on for maybe some legacy stuff which you don't always want to run on a VM e.g say aon an XP VM.
I'm in the middle of copying loads of classical music CD's to hard discs. Sometimes though the standard "rippers and taggers" just don't pic up the data from the actual CD tracks which then just appear as track1.cda, track2.cda etc.
My old copy of Nero reads the actual embedded CD stuff and then produces an accurate tagged rip of the tracks (I'm using Nero burning Rom 2021).
For instance this CD :
