New Build Old Case IDE Problem

I want to use a cool looking Dell Dimension E521 case for a new AMD build.
The Power button - 2 USB PORTS & the microphone, headphone jacks are integrated onto a small board
that is using an IED plug to communicate with the motherboard.
I was wondering if this PCIE TO 40 PIN adapter would allow all this to work.

Not trying to be critical of your choice, (to each his own), but cool looking case or not (sorry, I don't see anything cool about the E521), I can't see utilizing almost 20 year old parts in a new modern build. Even if it works, for every adapter you use, it's just one more place for issues to jump up and bite you at some point. Also, to have no 3.1 front port access would be difficult to deal with.
I've always run into issues when I tried to use 3rd party parts in an OEM case, especially Dell stuff which is what I've always owned. Over the years I've southern engineered to make stuff work that was not meant to work and usually ended up regretting doing it.

It may work.

Can you fit a normal ATX motherboard in that case without major surgery? I copied an image for the E521 from eBay, and it looks like it is arranged wildly differently from a standard ATX board.

did you check to see if the motherboard will actually fit. from googling the case should be BTX, and i dont think they make BTX motherboards for newer systems

I'd forgotten about BTX boards.

I'm not sure that it's a standard BTX board (see the image in Post 3), but it's more like a BTX board than any other type that I know of. (Dell has a history of using proprietary motherboards.)

Okay thank you. I will probably leave it alone and keep running Linux on it.
Thats if I don't get super bored this winter & at least try it.

These are all the modern ATX mid-tower cases. Sorted from lowest to highest price.
I'm sure you'll find a cool looking case in the somewhere.

If you wanted to use that case because of the drive bays then maybe look at the Seta D1.
