New Mini PC Problems

Hello All

Recently was sent a BosGame Mini PC, well once setup on its actual desk started crashing/blue screening. I guess i could put the specs in a BSOD/Crashes Topic if i go that far with it, All i want is the System Stable for Family Members to use when they want to.

Each system has pretty much same software load out, though the gaming ones have Different Games, but otherwise standard software same

BosGame U32 Mini PC
AMD Ryzen 3 3200U with Vega 3 Graphics 2.90ghz-boosting to 3.5ghz
8GB of DDR 4 Sodimm Ram
256GB SSD M.2
Logitech G213 Keyboard
Generic Mouse not sure whom makes it
Asus VG245H 1080P HDMI Monitor
Windows 11 Pro x64 22621.1928

Should i proceed with BSOD Crashes topic to try and get to bottom of it, and fix it once and for all

A Week or two Old this device is, Return unable to do as was Giveaway item from a Tech Youtuber (not his fault) either overheating or something here maybe causing the crashes not sure what.

FIrst unboxing it was fine when using on Upstairs Open Table temporary desk and using my TV as Monitor then. i had no problems at all

Now on actual desk i do, i don't get it

If you're comfortable in opening it up carefully then check all connections are sound. Some connection might have worked loose. See video @ 38:29 if it's the same Mini PC.

Yes Same One, and i'm pretty comfortable opening this little Mini PC when i got time, and hopefully its just a simple fix, as doesn't look too hard to open this unit as long as goes well

And i have small enough screwdriver to get to the screws needed to open it, do have a plastic little opener helper for laptops, so might help getting it loosen on the side spot where it needs that

Meanwhile gets the Logs Collected, and starts a separate topic shortly in BSODS/Crashes section either later or Monday or Tuesday unless after i open it Tuesday (should have time then) and reseating some items if needed, and if works fine after that--then yay.

For Now Included below screen shot of Task Manager is it Normal for Intergrated video to warm up that quickly... after Windows Load up

perhaps contact BosGame about the bsod crashes on that mini pc from their contacts page and get a response from them

Already left a Message on BosGame site, haven't heard nothing back yet.

Though this morning i was working on it more, it crashed in windows, and now not showing anything on the Monitor, appears dead as can be now

don't think i did anything to kill it as far as i know, all was doing when it crashed that time was just trying to run diagnostic tools per the bsod crashes & analysis forum section here

Try removing the power adapter then pressing and holding the power button for about 30 seconds or more and reconnecting power to see if it boots.

Ok will give that a shot, worth a try anyways even if it doesn't work, at least something to try--

Ok Tried that--

Reporting Nothing at all, held start button for over 3 minutes, then reconnected Power, still nothing at all. Same Black Screen when turn monitor on, then it goes No signal, and into sleep mode the Monitor does

Why heck did it die like this? never had a PC die a horrible death like this--unless i did something wrong or maybe i shouldn't been running a Defender scan to check for infections when it was already blue screening a ton, but i figured wouldn't hurt to run--boy was i wrong on that.

it blue screened like 5-6 times this morning, though the task manager for video portion of chip was running pretty hot

Hardware fails...even new hardware. The BSODs you have been having from the start were a good indication some piece of hardware was flaky or you were having a heat problem that caused the hardware to fail.

Even though this was a giveaway item, if it was new-in-box you should have been able to register it with the manufacturer and qualify for their warranty. Did you? the manufacturer says: "We offer lifetime technical support, 1-year worry-free warranty and 24 hours customer service."

If not, the way I see it you have 3 options.
1. Contact the person that gave it to you to see if he can be of any help getting it repaired or replaced.
2. Contact the manufacturer , explain how and when you got the PC, and hope they will help you even though you didn't register it.
3. The problem could be in the CPU which includes the the graphics processor OR the motherboard. It's up to you whether it's worth the expense of changing out either one. In fact I cannot find where that cpu can even be purchased on the open market. The original price of the entire PC is only a little over a $100. You can't expect much out of it.

I tried to contact the Manufactuer via there Contact spot on the site--nothing, I did contact person that sent it, and got a gift receipt to do the return with thru Amazon, once i have it all boxed up and ready to go. and Family member for ride to nearest drop off Return location (since i don't drive RL)

Item can only be Refunded what i found out after speaking with Amazon customer service just a few moments ago. So once i receive the gift card after item is returned, then will decide if i wanna spend it on another Mini PC to replace 3rd System down there, or go another way

If i do go for another Mini PC, think might be Minis Forum version

Good call. I'd like to throw out a few things to consider. Consider well how your other family members will be using it before making a decision in what you buy to replace it.
These little devices in that price range are not equipped to do more than email, browsing, streaming to external devices, etc. They can in no way be expanded except with usb devices. They can not handle gaming much heavier than Solitaire. Keep in mind how tightly the components are crammed into those devices. Heat can always be a problem in any of these no matter the brand. Just my 2 cents.

While i don't game on mine, I have had Intel NUC's (still do, just not using them as they are old) and also currently have a Beelink Mini PC SEI-8 and it's been great. I like the Beelink as I could add a secondary SATA Based SD to it, which I did.

Yeah i didn't game on that little machine, Family member just played Microsoft Jewels 2 Casual Game, which i was like it should handle it fine, and it did somewhat between the Blue Screens of Death

Not sure if gonna get another Mini PC or not at this point, might put Family back on Older HP P6 2133W Desktop and keep that going til can afford a newer full tower for Family to use

Typically They use it to Pay Bills, Read/write email, listen to music at times, Charge devices like Apple watch sometimes, or something via the USB ports, Occasional Print Documents as well, never really used or never has been for heavy gaming--not since i was using the current 3rd PC for Mine before i got my newer one in 2017 (upgraded Mine in 2020, traded it in at local shop for $120.00 off new one lol)

Mine used for Gaming, sometimes light video rendering (or transferring old family videos to DVD off and on--not very often for that anymore) Music listening, Backing up files to Externals, Word Processing, Excel Spreadsheet occasionally

my tasks vary from day to day, sometimes i game most of the day, sometimes i do productive tasks, sometimes just chillin listening to music, or music playing a bit while cleaning off and on, and Remote Desktoping into 3rd PC for All Software maintenance ( guess thats safe to do) never been infected yet doing it)

I have three Mini PCs. Of the three, two of them are Beelink PCs and I'm very happy with them.

What are y'all calling a "Mini PC"?

I did look that up on Amazon, so now I know what a 'BosGame' mini PC is. It may have a place in the greater scheme of things, where space is at a critical minimum, like on the ISS , or in a Mini Sub. But even in a Motor Home, mobile home or apartment, space is usually not at so much a premium.

Without the gory details, I do have a space problem, but I've found a way to use a Mid-Tower PC, where some years ago, I used a laptop. It's nice to be able to add another HD any time I want, or have access to 10 USB ports, some even USB 3.0.

I do have two, SFF, PC's. One from HP and one from Acer. Nice little boxes, but just so limited on expand-ability.
Both will run Windows 11, but they have a drive bay that will accommodate just one HD, but I can squeeze in TWO SSD's, one on top of the other.
But with only two SATA ports on the mobo. I have to unplug the CD/DVD drive, in order to use the second SSD.

Limitations! Limitations! I hate Limitations, when I do have an alternative.

It really depends on the needs of the user. I have purchased three Mini PCs and for my needs they are great. The first one was built by a not well know company and it worked very good to stream media files to my TVs and devices. It does have a extra drive slot that I used to install my spare SSD into. My second Mini PC is a Beelink with a little better specs then the first one. I bought it to replace the first Mini PC that I donated to my son so he could start streaming to his TV and devices. The third Mini PC is a Beelink SE11 with a 11th gen i5 11320H CPu, 16GB DDR4 memory and a 500GB NVMe SSD. it also has Wi-Fi 6. It replaced my the HP Envy X360 15-dsl1083 laptop I was using outside in my shed. It's not only faster but because of the table I use being smalland the shed having very limited space and the fact I was using the the laptop as a desktop with an external monitor, mouse and keyboard it fit in perfecly. In my house I have two desktop PCs that I use for different purposes. The only thing I don't like about my new desktop is that there are no external drive bays.

Well i even Tried CMOS Reset Pin in the little Hole on Mine, and well even after holding the Paper Clip slim pin in the little hole for over 10 minutes Nothing lol, so yup definitely bricked totally/dead for some reason. This was my first ever Mini PC.....Guess i should've just kept it for myself, and used it for Streaming video files to TV or something.

But thought i'd be nice and replace Family PC that is from 2012

But either it overheated on that desk, or it had faulty hardware and died a very early death lol.

at the Moment still not sure if i will purchase another Mini with Gift Card Refund once this one returned to Amazon Return location as soon as possible here.

Overall i liked it alot when it ran good though, but that was brief, after i setup it up on its actual Desk--started blue screening alot

I have a Desktop, (You can actually see it behind these mini's and the monitor in the picture above). That's my everyday gaming PC, that I run all of my virtual machines on. I just prefer to not play and tinker a lot on this desktop machine, but rather just keep it up, running and 100% stable. Instead, I do all of my goofing around on the mini-PC and it runs WIndows 11 fanstastically. And if I blow something up, there is nothing on there which has any importance, so I can just blow it away and start again.

As a computer tech, enthusiast and hobbyist, I'm in and out of my PC's all the time.
My two main PC's, I originally built myself, and have since RE-Built. Both are in original Pac Man mid-tower cases and are kept open for better cooling and for easy access. It's really handy if I need to Clone a Hard Drive.
I have extra long SATA and power cables, so I can lay two drives next to the PC, and connect them up, for cloning.

Yup, it's an OLD picture, but I can still do the same thing today, to CLONE one HD to Another.
The computer is booted up with my Ghost Backup/Restore program running from a DOS Boot Flash Drive.
I'm using the 'Dist to Disk' copy routine. Never fails!
This is something I could never do with a SFF PC or laptop. (I also have seven Laptop/Portables)

Yeah, i used to have multiple hard drives in my boxes and would just switch the power and data cables around to boot from the one that I wanted. However, with the introduction of the NVMe drives, this became far less appealing as the drive is buried behind video cards and sometimes chipset shrouds on the motherboards. Also I sometimes wanted to have my main machine up, while playing in another machine and 2 physical boxes made this possible. And finally, for just watching a video, or listening to music, these mini-machines consume a ton less power than my desktop and give off substantially less heat.

On my BeeLink, I do have some images of the hard drive that I can use to swtch OS's when I want. I have a Windows 10 Pro build that it came with. I have my Windows 11 Pro install that I did. I have a Linux Mint Image, a Rocky Linux image, and now a Window 11/Debian 12 image.
