Hello,

I have a MS Surface pro 9, and an iPad. My ipad is getting old and not getting apple updates anymore. The only thing I use it for is downloading newspapers and magazines to their respective apps for longer flights.

My question is, is there a way to do this on a W11 pc, thereby avoiding the need for me to buy another ipad. I have tried to use the android subsystem and load the android apps, which works, but it is complicated as those apps are not in the Amazon store so you have to sideload them. I have also read that Microsoft is getting rid of the android subsystem in 2025. Microsoft to end its Android apps on Windows 11 subsystem in 2025

Is anyone aware of a way to do this? perhaps an app that downloads links on a page?

Download the papers and magazines from your paid subscription to your Surface before you leave? Anything else (app to download links) sounds like a copyright infringement. If you’re talking about subscripted links, again, you should be able to do that pre takeoff, from those papers and magazines you are subscribed to?

Edit: Will these only download and live in their Apps, like Spotify with music?

It would seem strange that a subscription news service or magazine wouldn’t accommodate apps that operate in Windows. That is a huge audience to ignore.
Maybe you could give us some examples of your subscriptions?

Install Kindle or Kobo app on your Surface. Download a nice juicy novel before you leave home. There are many 100% free books on Amazon & Kobo many in Audio, the rest very reasonable when compared to paperback prices. Magazines, too.
