Windows 11 version 24H2
On my Windows 8.1, I can alter the speed of videos by hovering the curser on the 3 dots on bottom of video, go to the left and either -sound or +sound. On my new Windows 11 laptop the 3 dots are not there. I can still alter the speed elsewhere, but it takes longer. What is going on here please? I want my dots back!

Unknown to me! 🤷‍♂️ What dots are you referring to?

Shift+> is faster,
Shift+< is slower.

On the bottom of the video screen, where you start it playing. In the middle are 3 dots, next to and to the right of the subtitle on/off. Hover over these and more option will show.

Looks like Windows 11, but mine, on Windows 8.1 is like this. On pic 1 you can see 3 dots in the middle. I hover over these and get as per Pic 2. I go to the left and chose + or _. I think I may have sent these to you wrong, but hopefully you get my meaning? So looks like W11 is a step backwards! :/Speed 2.webp

I do, but, it looks like you're using YouTube Premium, I haven't a clue about that!

Also, you stated you're using Firefox..., I haven't a clue about that either!

Sorry I couldn't be of any help! 🤷‍♂️

Premium just means ad free. I couldn't stand the ads any more so pay to stop them. Thanks for trying :)

Actually, it looks like Enhancer for YouTube add-on for Firefox!

Oops! Looks like @mxlexmark2 covered it! :zip:
Nope, It is not Enhancer. On my old laptop Windows 8.1, Firefox, no enhancer. New laptop Windows 11, Firefox, no Enhancer.

It must be to do with Windows 11 I guess.

Beats me then! 🤷‍♂️
Did you check your Extensions, cuz it sure as hell looks like Enhancer for YouTube?

I don't even know where to go to check for Youtube Extension. I can't see mention anywhere. I would not have paid for it. No worries. I will put it down to W11. Thanks.

It is nothing to do with Windows 11.

As already mentioned it is probably "Enhancer for YouTube" or similar extension from Chrome webstore, or Edge Add-ons, or Mozilla Add-ons etc.

Update your Web Browser(s), and update the relevant Extension/Add-on.

Another thought is open youtube in a private window on FireFox and see if it looks the same.

How about just let the videos play at the speed they were meant to be?

I have Windows 8.1 available as a VM, I've just installed Firefox in it. That had to be the ESR version 115 as Firefox version 115 is the last supported Firefox version for users of Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Here it is, alongside Firefox 133.0.3 in Windows 11 - they are virtually identical. Whatever the difference is between your two pics, it is NOT the version of Windows!

It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

Speed up: Shift + ,
Slow down: Shift + .The keyboard shortcut to slow it down doesn't work on my Belgian AZERTY keyboard layout, though... YouTube still has a few ID10T errors, as they're really nothing more than a gang of peasants just like Microsoft, but the good news is that all the angelic frequency videos on YouTube have so many remarkably friendly comments that, once you start reading 'em, you'll never need any anti-depressants. :-)
