I had the sound before when I received Outlook emails Now it's gome. I get no notification whatsoever. Any ideas?

Thanks Ghot, unless I mssed something I think I have those steps covered. Settings have always been like this. Maybe there's a ghost in my system who likes things quiet. LOL.

Well that is weird to me. I was testing Outlook notification and sound by sending an email from my gmail to my Bell Sympatico account. No notification, no sound.An employee at CP Railway who worked for me long ago just sent me an email to the sympatico account. I received a notification and a sound. Had someone else send me an email just to make sure. Same positive result.

I promise you fine. knowledgeable, helpful members I haven't been drinking, but it seems no notification happens when I send an email to myself, from gmail to sympatico. Thanks all.

That's the first thing I did, taking the easiest fix first. Didn't work. Guess someone, somewhere doesn't think emails to myself count.:confused::LOL:

When my Outlook begins to go wonky, I do a repair install. That typically will fix most errors.

I found a fix for this issue.

Symptoms: even though I had activated the notification sound in both Outlook Rules and Alerts and in Outlook Options > Mail, after 12-24 hours the notification sound always stopped working. In addition, Focus Assist was OFF. Only rebooting the computer restored the notification sound, but again for only 12-24 hours.

I fixed this by (1) opening Focus Assist, (2) turning Focus Assist ON by selecting Priority Only, (3) opening Customize Priority List, (4) adding Outlook to the list, and (5) turning Focus Assist OFF again.
