The layout you can see in the first attachment shows the calendar, which is inside the red box, which is the Layout To Do Bar.

This is the View I use and want to always be there.
If I use the People option to edit or add a new contact, my view ends up looking like what can be seen in the second attachment. Notice the third pane, The To Do Bar, is missing.
I can easily reset the view to what I want but am wondering why it changes? Also, if there is anything that can be done to stop that view change, please tell me. Thanks
