Looking through the forum there doesn't seem to be a place to discuss what people are using for their "must have" apps. By that, I mean the apps that you have chosen as being your choice to perform the tasks that you put your computer to.
I will go first and list my preference for apps:
1. Notepad++ for text based files
2. HxD for Hex editing
3. MPC (+ K-lite codecs) for video
4. Foobar2000 for listening to music
5. Audacity for audio editing
6. Vivaldi as internet browser (with Ublock Origin as adblocker and StartPage as default search engine)
7. 7-Zip for compression/decompression of files
8. OnlyOffice Desktop Editor for non cloud based Office suite (includes PDF viewer/editor)
9. Microsoft Calculator Plus (version 1.0) for hex, binary, decimal maths.
10. Paint.net as an image editor
Now some slightly oddball stuff (I edit car ecu ROMs for tuning purposes) and the only reason I continue to use a Windows O.S for software/hardware compatibility
11. EcuFlash for reading/editing /writing to car ecus (via Tactrix OP2.0 interface)
12. VirtualDyno for viewing Power/Torque outputs derived from logs of wide open throttle runs.
13. WinLogView (part of WinLog software) for viewing log data in a graphical form.
Why I have chosen what I have is pretty straight forward:
I detest being herded into "walled gardens".
I value privacy and the security of my personal data.
I don't want to look at unsolicited ads.
I appreciate clean, efficient, state of the art coding.
My pick for worst possible app would have to be MS Edge browser.
What are your premium personal choice apps?
