Solved pink acrylic?

I recently did a monitor calibration (with DisplayCal). I like the results, mostly, but now I see light tints outside most windows. They tend to be pinkish. At a guess, it's related to the Acrylic feature. The windows themselves are white. It's not an overall screen tint.

The tint may have been present before, but it's much stronger now.

I'm not fond of pink. A bit of Web searching mainly found information for creators. I'm not one.

Is there any way to alter the hue of the tint?

Is this some subtle form of protest against Florida's new "don't say gay" law?

I tried it before. Just tried it again, and restarted the PC.

Nope.

See the attached, left side of the image. More of a lilac than a pink, here.

I don't know whether this is helpful, but the monitor was calibrated after being set for the DCI-P3 color space. (Not that I know what I'm doing as regards color spaces.)

You've got better eyes than I have... Gunga Din.
I can't see any pink or lilac at all.

Most monitors have a "temperature" (may be called color settings), setting that will adjust the overall "hue".
Like... warm tones, cool tones... etc.
That may help??

I don't know what you have for display adapter, but this would be Nvidia's settings..

Fortunately for me... DELL Ultrasharps come factory calibrated.

I can't see any pink either.
You're not wearing rose-colored glasses, are you, Bob?

Color problems can be caused by ICC Profiles in Color Management found in Display Adapter properties.

I don't know how serious you are about color calibration... but just reading about folks (who can see ALL the colors), calibrating their monitors... this was the tool to have.
I can't see ALL the colors (probably only 90%), so I went with Dell Ultrasharp monitor(s).

The screen capture duplicates what's on screen. (That's less stupid than it sounds.)

If I switch the monitor to aRGB, the colors change. White remains white.

Guess I'll just have to learn to love the way the acrylic effects display.

I see that turning off transparency effects reduced the saturation of the colors (if the term can be used for such faint pastels), but doesn't eliminate them.

I used an X-Rite i1Display Pro Plus. (Rebranded a few months ago as the Calibrite ColorChecker Display Plus.) I don't know which tool is more commonly bundled with "professional" monitors, but I think this is a fairly common one.

Pink, the sequel:

I set the monitor to use the aRGB space, and recalibrated it. There are no more pink/magenta tinges to some parts of the some windows. The background of this very web page is the familiar light blue.

I don't understand. I also don't care enough to make a research program out of it.

It may not be something technical, our physiology including color perception is not an absolute constant, hence colorimeters.

I use the Spider-X Pro, and the original Image clip shown looked perfect on my monitor. Colourimeters are also not foolproof and will depend on the user's eyesight to some extent. I calibrate my monitors every month or so, and I use Blackout Curtains and have 5500K daylight lighting in the room. I calibrate both my Benq 32" 4K HDR10+ main monitor and also a TV (also 4K HDR10+) that I use to display a full size image whist working in Lightroom, This is set with the same parameters as the Main monitor using the Spider-x and the same room conditions

With all this I can still see a slight difference between an image displayed on both "monitors" which proves to me that when it comes to colour matching there is never a perfect result, probably due to me rather than the hardware We humans are like that

I don't think that a colorimeter with a digital readout depends on the user's eyesight, the instrument like all other measuring instruments has its own error specs, of course. And monitor calibration comes with its own error specs, also of course.

There is that (error specs of technology) but what I meant/emphasized in my previous post is the 'error specs' of color perception (and in fact 'error specs' of the broader eye physiology (as in optical illusions) or 'error specs' of any physiology, for that matter). For example, change your timing from before to after having a fight and your color perception changes (seeing red, literally)

I think what @bobkn and @barman58 experienced is a combination of 'error specs' of technology and 'error specs' of color perception. Usually, with proper technology these days, the latter 'error specs' is far greater than the former.

Later: I did the monitor calibration with an X-Rite i1Display Pro Plus, using the Displaycal software. I checked it against an i1Display Pro. They didn't agree.

I tried another calibration with the i1Display Pro.

Can I trust these colorimeters?

Yet another test: I used the latest Calibrite (formerly X-Rite) software to generate an .icm profile. The QA feature of the software (ccprofiler) showed a good result.

I rechecked using Displaycal, which showed significant errors.

@bobkn I used to work for a little while with colorimetry in the context of TV technology and working with/through color TV standards (NTSC, PAL, SECAM) helped a lot, because it narrows down the extremely broad subject matter to literally what matters, considerably speeding up the learning curve. Don't ask me about color TV now, I have since long forgotten all the details

Anyway, perhaps you can look at the applicable standards in the areas that you are interested in, i.e. take a broader look than just at the tools that happen to be at hand.

@cereberus You may be a bit color blind, there are simple colorimeters that can help you choose colors and color combinations for your clothing, preventing you from wearing an odd color combination, for example. The alternative is to have a wardrobe that is all shades of grey :)

I am strong protan - I have known that my whole life. Anyway, still a hippy at heart - ooh the colours man (even though that baffled me a wee bit LOL). My subtle point was colour perception varies a lot from person to person.

To me Pink Acrylic is probably an offshoot of one of the greatest bands of hippy era - Pink Floyd - ooh I can see Emily play.

Yeah, that's what I meant with 'error specs' of color perception being far greater than the 'error specs' of technology.

That's also the reason why I suggested to look into the standards of whatever production environment you are working into.
