Using w11 desktop. And I'm new here and, poking my way around. Launch from taskbar icon. Prior versions had option in properties to launch as admin. But things do change. So I've updated my PS security profile to full control. Will this equal the right click Run as Administrator. Thanks.

If you don't have the Advanced ... > Run as administrator option in your taskbar icon, I'd make a new desktop icon to PowerShell and you'll get those options. Easier maybe is right-click Start button and choose Terminal (Admin). That will launch Terminal, and if it doesn't open in PowerShell (i.e., it opens in Command Prompt), click the little down arrowhead at the top, and choose the black icon PowerShell. You don't want the blue icon PowerShell (Windows PowerShell) at this point, just PowerShell.

If you make the new icon, ditch the current taskbar icon (r-click and Unpin), then right-click your new icon and Pin to Taskbar.

BTW, the path for making a new desktop shortcut for Powershell is
"C:\Program Files\PowerShell\7\pwsh.exe"
and after you open Properties in that shortcut and use Advanced and Run as Admin, Apply, OK, and then right click the icon and choose Pin to Taskbar (you have to delete your present taskbar icon first, or you won't get the choice to Pin to Taskbar), you can delete that desktop icon. The taskbar icon will remain.

How come MS updates this Powershell? I thought the last one from MS was 5. something.
I had the surprise of windows update offering me this one as well.
