Problem showing thumbnails instead of icons on desktop

I have searched online for a solution to my desktop showing thumbnails instead of icons but am getting nowhere. I have tried the settings in the control panel Sysytem and checked the show thumbnails instead of icons but it is just not working. When I click on one of thos icons it gives me a message to make sure I am set to John - personal (see pic) and I have no idea what this means. I recently backed up my data to One Drive and it filled my desktop with all manner of icons that I previously did not have on the desktop.
Any help really appreciated.

NO I just hit the version I have in the box for the forum and that is what it gives me.
