why does the gallery make so many duplicate photos. i went thru and deleted all the copies and a few weeks later they are all back. is there a way to turn that off? if i just do a delete of all the gallery photos will that remove the photos i have in the picture section under user? or is there a way to remove the copies. or a way to turn off that copy making process?

In Gallery right-click an item in the right pane, click Properties and you'll probably see the Location of the actual file stored. In other words those items are shortcuts to the actual file which probably is in C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE and one of the folders. Most everything in the Navigation panel above This PC are shortcuts or items pinned there.

ok thanks i see that thanks it looks like i need to go into those folders and do some house keeping.

but when i did stop on each photo it says it is in different places and if they did manage to get into those different folders those folders are different phone cameras. and i know i did not take the same photo with different phones.

I store most of my data on a NAS drive to be accessible from other computers so it's not a big issue for me. You can create and use other folders under C: but not Pin them. I'd start with a new folder such as C:\Housekeeping and move some files there, get them out of the Default folders.

ok thanks i found 5 photos of a elvis car in the gallery that was in a local mr quicks folder i did a properties on all of them and everyone was in the same folder but when i went there was only one photo was there. oh my mistake it was in all of them. so as long as the gallery is not just creating photos i guess i can leave it alone. thanks.

Gallery does not duplicate photos. This is a user caused issue.
