No that was a few weeks back. A free programme recommended by Computeractive magazine updated some software then it disappeared. I suppose I could try system restore that's only just occurred to me.

Without using one of the 3rd party apps that alters the GUI there is no QuickLaunch in Windows 11...period.

This cannot be the case unless you installed EP and enabled re-written taskbar there.

You are incorrect.. Toolbars have
never natively been supported in windows 11. As has been mentioned multiple times in this thread and a ton of other threads on this forum, toolbars requires 3rd party software.
One can, however, create a custom folder that similates QuickLaunch.
1. Create a new folder
anywhere , Name it, and change its icon. Add shortcuts to your apps or files too if you want.
2. create a desktop shortcut to the folder with a target of
C:\Windows\explorer.exe PATH TO FOLDER (See mine as an example. I put it on my S: drive and named it Quick Stuff.)
3. pin the folder to the taskbar.
4. You can then remove the desktop shortcut if you wish but it's handy to have to quickly add other shortcuts to..

In order to use Explorer Patcher with 24H2 you need to use the latest version and add exclusions to your AV. See here:
