Hello,
So I saw a website (Add NVMe Boot Support to a HP EliteDesk 800 G1) that claims to provide steps to boot a nvme drive on this desktop. I followed the instructions and nothing happened. I inserted the nvme drive with the adapter and it lits up red. What do I do to install a nvme m2 drive into my hp elitedesk 800 g1 sff pc? HELP!

you need to flash the BIOS of HP 800 G1 to add NVMe Boot Support.

There is a thread about nvme boot support on sevenforums, together with links for readymade bios and to tachytelic for instructions

It should work if you have done it correctly.

Have you asked at the tachytelic site ?

I did it about a year ago and I followed the instructions , did everything right and yes it worked. I used my samsung 500gb M2 I installed windows 10, then I tried windows 7 but just wouldn't install right. He does say something in his thread about why windows 7 or earlier won't install.

He does say something in his thread about why windows 7 or earlier won't install.

Win7 needs nvme drivers

Install the sha2 update:
windows6.1-kb4474419-v3-x64.msu

then these nvme drivers attached below.

They can be installed into the mounted install.wim image beforehand. And into boot.wim and winre.wim if desired.

There are also usb3 drivers ( also need the sha2 update first)
